When a woman reaches a certain age, she is told that she’s too old for long hair, for short skirts, trendy styles and, seemingly, the most cardinal of all sins, leather trousers!
I do have short hair out of choice as I believe it suits the shape of my face, I won’t wear short skirts unless I pair them with opaque tights but I do still shop in Top Shop (even though I feel ancient when I look around at the other shoppers who are invariably teenagers, but do you know what I do? I don’t look!). I also wear leather look trousers. Gasp!
When I put this outfit on and look in the mirror, I don’t think I’m too old for this. Instead I think, sod the haters, I feel good in this and I can get away with it. Okay, when I’m eighty I will be too old to wear it but I’m not there yet!
So, I’m just going to get over the haters and not stop myself from wearing things that some random stranger is going to judge me on.
Phew. I just needed to get that out. Onwards!
