Mint & Feather, A High Street Gem

I just love it when I walk into a gift shop and find lots of lovely things that catch my eye.

Mint & Feather in Barry’s High Street is not your normal gift shop. Owners Lana and Vlad source products locally and internationally that are different to what you might normally find on the high street. I think they’ve got a great eye.

They don’t just sell the run of the mill type gift. You know the ones I mean. Those that everyone usually stocks after they’ve been to a buying trip in one of the big shows.

As soon as I walked in, my eyes were immediately drawn to a couple of items. One being a fantastic, colourful kimono. I loved the colours but being on the small side, I did think it might swamp me. It would look great on someone with a bit more meat on their bones though.

The other items that drew me in was a gorgeously soft dark olive faux leather shirt. I recognised the designer straight away. Rino and Pelle. I tried it on, and it fitted like a glove. A great price too at only £48 plus as I knew the owner, she gave me a sneaky 10% discount.

I know this piece will go beautifully with a pair of grey skinny jeans, but it would look equally good with a pair of blue or white mom jeans too. To glitz it up a bit (I love wearing sequins in the day), I would also team it with my sequin top.

What a find!
If I’d had a bit more cash on me, I would have also bought one of Mint & Feather’s other bits. I love Vlad’s coastal wood pieces. Really unique and remind me of weekends away by the coast. I might still be tempted by one of the kimonos though. They had a few different patterns and lengths. These would be perfect for the summer months, over a bikini or with a vest top and a pair of jeans. Next time…
