As a Magazine Editor, I often get invitations to review new products, so I was very excited to be invited to the recent custom Fenty Beauty airstream tour which was being held in Cardiff’s City Centre.

There are many beauty launches held throughout the year and I don’t often get the time to go but, as I had another meeting in the city that day, I was able to pop along.

The focus of the event was to find the right shade of foundation for my skin tone and to find a product that would fit my wants and wishes from a foundation. As I’m approaching sixty, my skin can be a bit dry and I’m never quite sure which product to use to give a bit of dewiness to my skin and also blur out the imperfections (read wrinkles!).

I was greeted by the Fenty Tour Team and my consultant was the lovely Connor. He was beautifully made up, not too overdone as some beauty counter salespeople can be, so that made me feel more at ease. He had a lovely way about him as well.

We tried a few different shades of foundation on, and we both agreed on the one that suited me best. It was the perfect match. I’d also mentioned that I had recently bought a well-know foundation brand and was excited to wear it but on application, it did have a definite perfumy smell which I wasn’t fond of which I didn’t want to repeat.  With the Fenty foundation that Connor suggested I try, there wasn’t a single whiff of perfume. Who wants a foundation that competes with your fave perfume!

I’d also mentioned that I quite liked the effect of a bit of highlighter on the top of my cheeks to give that dewy look that I was looking for and Connor kindly popped on a serum which delivered the right amount of glow.

I was surprised to hear from Connor that the Fenty Beauty foundation comes in a whopping fifty colours, ranging from a shade for super fair skin with neutral undertones all the way up to very dark skin with cooler undertones. Apparently, the celeb behind the products singing sensation Rihanna wanted to find a product which suited all skin tones. She applied the same mantra to her skincare product line as well.

“Fenty Skin is my vision of the new culture of skincare,” Rihanna explains. “I wanted to create amazing products that really work, that are easy to use, and everyone can apply.” Basically, she wanted to simplify the often-confusing world of skincare. “I wanted it to feel approachable, easy and to take the pressure off choosing a routine, so I created one for everyone,” she adds.

I’m looking forward to trying my foundation to see if it does live up to the hype. If Connor’s pep talk was anything to go by, this celeb certainly puts her money where her mouth is.

Fenty Skin is available from Harvey Nichols and can be bought from Boots.
