This time I was doing a little shopping. I was in Cardiff with my boys (husband and son). We were going to part company in the carpark, and they would head to Wahaca for a bit of bonding (not that they need to – they’re like a couple of kids when they’re together). But as we were walking past, I thought I’d pop in and have a quick cocktail with them (Wahaca had put a Coronation special on the menu and I thought it would lubricate my shopping brain nicely as I wasn’t driving). It was delish.
I left them to it and enjoyed a lovely hour scurrying around my favourite boutiques. When I returned, they couldn’t praise Wahaca enough. My husband actually said, “that was the best Wahaca to date”. My son, who generally provides one or two word food reviews, was full of unpublishable expletives. So, from this, we can generally take it that lunch at Wahaca was a massive hit.
They always have the Crispy Cauliflower Bites (above) – that’s a given. Mark says he could just eat a huge bowl of those alone. Jack loves the Free Range Pork Pibil so that was also on the order.
They occasionally try new things and, on this occasion, Mark ordered Devon Crab Tostadas dish and Jack went for the Beef Gringa. They kept calling it Gringo – boys! Both were a huge hit and they said they’d definitely order them again. Mark also had the Chicken Club – now also added to the favourites list.
The meal was finished off with the usual Crisp Doughnuts (Churros) with the rich chocolatey sauce. A perfect end to a pretty perfect meal.
We like Wahaca. It delivers on ambience, flavour and customer service every time. If you’ve never tried it, you really must.
Mark, or Jack for that matter, are not great fans of spicy food but they both love Wahaca.
