Wardrobe Clearout!

Choosing what to wear recently has been a bit overwhelming. Over the years my wardrobe (that should be wardrobes!) have been added to, and then some.

I shop all over. From local independent boutiques, nationals, supermarkets, and good old charity shops. I’ll always find something. I keep hold of clothes, not sure why. Whether it’s for sentimental reasons (oh, Mark bought me that in such and such a place) or possibly because I kid myself that I can get into it again, or that now that I’ve lost a bit of weight, it’s too big for me. Whatever the reasons, I need to pass them on, so I decided after Christmas that the time has come to have a clearout.

I’ve had a massive cull over the last six months and am spending an hour each evening popping them on Ebay. Times are tough for most people at the moment so, if I can help someone out by enabling them to buy quality, well cared for pieces at a fraction of the cost, then that’s a good thing. And, bonus, I get a few hundred pounds to spend on new pieces.

Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth

Saying that. What I hadn’t planned, and what Mark hadn’t banked on certainly, was me buying more clothes. But, on a recent trip to Portsmouth, we made our way to the harbour (which was fab).

All Saints

As we walked through a few shops to get to the harbour, we didn’t realise that we were in fact walking through an outlet shopping centre called Gunwharf Quays. It was a bit like McArthur Glen (Bridgend) or Bicester. What a find!

Mint Velvet

I managed to pick up a few absolute bargains from a couple of my favourite brands, All Saints and Mint Velvet. I bought two pairs of trousers in both shops. They were just what I was looking for to fill a few gaps in my capsule wardrobe (that’s how I’m justifying the spend!).

With my halo firmly in place, I also treated Mark to a few bits from one of his favourite shops, Fred Perry. A couple of fab tops and a pair of trainers.

We had an amazing time in Portsmouth – not just because of the shopping, but it’s a place that we both said we’d love to return to as soon as we can (and as soon as I build up a bit of cash from my Ebay sales!).
