M&S Makeover (Well, We All Like A Change)

I’ve been having a massive cull of my wardrobe lately. I have way too many clothes.

I also feel like I could do with a bit of a makeover – a change of look if you will. I’m going to try, once again, to grow my hair. 1. Because of my change of look. 2. Because the change of look I’m going for is a neutral palette, more urban chic, masculine type look, so the current hair-do might make me look a bit “laddish” or “lesbian” (don’t knock me woke brigade, I’ve had this reaction to the hair before and want to stop people in their tracks before they refer to me as “mate” or “he”), and 3. Because it should make choosing what I wear each day easier.

I don’t intend to stop wearing skirts or dresses as I still enjoy wearing those, but I just want a more defined colour palette to make my life easier. I’m busy!

How am I affording to do this? The massive cull has been selling really well on Ebay. I’ve always looked after my clothes (not hammered them as I have too many to choose from) and I’ve always bought good quality which buyers seem to go for. So, this has enabled me to start buying pieces for my capsule wardrobe.

We popped into Marksies on the way home from a photoshoot and I picked up a few pieces that I’d been coveting on the website namely, a couple of pairs of tapered trousers in black and grey – £25 each. These I intend wearing with an oversized jumper and the pair of lace-brogues which I also picked up for £49.50. I could also wear them with a pair of trainers to make the look even more casual. I’ll either then pop a blazer or coat over the top with a tonal scarf and black tote bag to finish the look.

I told you I wasn’t going to stop wearing skirts and I just loved this beige pleated skirt £35. I thought this would team up nicely in the autumn with trainers while it’s still warm enough, and a black t-shirt or with a pair of boots and a black polo neck jumper when it gets a bit colder. I also got it in the moondust shade many months ago but haven’t worn it yet as I need to find the right tone of top to wear with it. I’m still looking for that.

I also picked up a men’s white t-shirt (I find the men’s tees are always of a better quality, thicker material. These are always handy to wear as a layer under jumpers or cardigans.

I also couldn’t resist the gold chunky chain necklace. This again I will wear to give a feminine feel to the outfit and also break up the look. I also fancied a black belt with gold buckle, but they didn’t have this in an xs, so I’ll be ordering that from the website.  That should complement the gold necklace really well.

I’ve got a few pieces that are being watched on Ebay so hopefully with that money, I’ll be able to pick up the bits and bobs I need to complete the new capsule wardrobe.

Change of scenery?
